Bringing inspiration into the classroom

Each year, the Role Model Program 'Book an Expert' inspires thousands of students by bringing real-world stories from tech workplaces across Denmark into the classroom.

Role models can help spark an interest and offer an educational and formative perspective on the value of education. They also provide knowledge and insight into scientific and technical subjects, giving students a more informed foundation for making their choices, while showcasing a wide range of career opportunities.

Voluntary Role Models for Everyone

The project 'Voluntary Role Models for Everyone' introduces targeted initiatives for children and young people across the country benefiting from volunteer STEM role models and collaboration with businesses. A number of schools and upper secondary schools in the municipalities of Tårnby, Copenhagen, Hedensted, Vordingborg, Næstved, and Aarhus takes part in the multi-year project that connects schools with local companies to give students hands-on, real-world experiences with science and technology.

An increasing number of children and young people - regardless of their background or where they live - gain access to role models they can relate to and receive support from volunteers with their schoolwork. They are also given greater opportunities to experience real workplaces and take part in internships. The aim is to boost their motivation, strengthen their academic skills, and contribute to their personal development and well-being beyond school.

Our evaluations of school visits by experts indicate that role models can inspire many students to reflect on their own educational choices. These role models help spark curiosity and provide a broader, formative perspective on the value of education and its real-world relevance.

With this project, we aim to sustain these positive effects while exploring whether a more structured form of collaboration can reach even more students. Our goal is to foster motivation for learning, strengthen personal development, and build confidence - enabling students to see themselves in education and future careers.
